Japan Is Getting Not One, But Two Amazing Cowboy Bebop Cafes

Cowboy Bebop, in addition to being one of the greatest anime series of all time, is getting an honor that only the best series end up getting in Japan. Okay, that part’s a little made up, because it totally happens to pretty much any anime. It’s getting a special cafe! Okay, but here’s the kicker. It’s getting two cafes! One will be posted up in Tokyo, and the other in Osaka. As you can see, that list doesn’t include America, where yours truly is located, and that is a grave injustice.
It looks like if you’re as big of a fan of the show as I am, to the point where you hum the opening song “Tank!” while waiting in line at the grocery. Or you could sing “The Real Folk Blues” to look dramatic and wistful as you stare out the window of a backseat, then you’ll have to go to Japan. If you want to visit the cafes, that is. There’s not a lot of information about them floating around just yet though, unfortunately. We’ll have to put on our thinking caps and figure out what kind of goodies are coming to the shop until images come out.

So when the Cowboy Bebop Cafe opens up May 15 at the Animate Cafes in Tokyo’s Akihabara and Osaka’s Nipponbashi, you might see something fun and sweet based on Radical Edward the hacker, or something purple and yellow and lovely, like a grape Peeps dessert to represent Faye. That’s not lovely, but it’d be purple and yellow. A delicious plate of beef with bell peppers might represent Spike and Jet, minus the beef of course, because it costs too many woolong. I don’t know; it could happen!
In any case, we’ll have to revisit this when the cafe opens and see what’s really up for grabs. I imagine it’s going to be plenty of delicious treats based off an anime masterpiece. Who’s ready to go?
